BAY NEWS 9 — The fourth tropical depression of the 2009 storm season has formed in the Gulf of Mexico.

The storm is located 90 miles west-southwest of Tampa Bay, with sustained wind speeds of 35 mph. The storm is moving north at 16 mph, and is not expected to directly impact the Bay area.

Bay News 9 meteorologist Josh Linker said that the storm could attain tropical storm status later today, making it the third named storm of the season.

A special marine advisory has been issued for the Gulf of Mexico. Boaters are advised to stay off the water today.
