Two tropical disturbances monitored south of Fla.

The National Hurricane Center in Miami is monitoring two tropical disturbances this morning, one north of the Bahamas and off the coast of Florida, and another in the eastern Caribbean.

Thunderstorm activity has increased this morning in association with a tropical wave over the eastern Caribbean Sea, according to meteorologists. However, conditions are not favorable for organization, forecasters said.

Heavy rainfall and gusty winds will affect portions of the Lesser Antilles, the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico today as the storm system moves west/northwest. There’s less than 30 percent chance os this system becoming a tropical cyclone during the next 48 hours.

In the second disturbance, showers and thunderstorms have become more concentrated near the northern Bahama Islands this morning. There are no signs of organization, and less than a 30 percent chance of this system becoming a tropical cyclone during the next 48 hours.
